ITALFOODS WNTER/SPRING 2010 NEWSLETTER

Hello Friends. It is the first day of February and though we have had a few clouds in the sky and raindrops keep falling on our head, we here at Italfoods are looking forward to the coming of the spring. Already one can see the first signs: Acacia and cherry trees starting to bloom, white lilies pushing up through the soil, the first fava beans in the farmer’s market.

We had a great showing at the 35th Winter Fancy Food Show at the Moscone Center. Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting with us. We had demos from Lavazza coffee, Fior di Frutta Organic Fruit spreads, Monte Nevado Serrrano ham, Calabro Cheese, Lamonica’s pizza dough, San Giuliano Oils, Vinegars and assorted roasted vegetables, Fiorucci Meats, Il Forteto Cheese, and Perfect Puree. A good time was had by all.

Here at Italfoods, we are gearing up for Valentine’s Day and Easter. Make sure you have plenty of FABBRI Amarena Cherries and Umberto Cesari Refolo to make the delightful lover’s cocktail: Amore Mio. Place one cherry in the bottom of a champagne flute, add a little of the syrup and pour in the Refolo. Refolo is a blend of 50% Pignoletto – an ancient grape indigenous to Emilia Romagna – and 50% Chardonnay. It makes an incredibly crisp, dry and delightful bubbly. When combined with the cherries you have a beautiful and tasty Champagne style cocktail.

Ask your sales rep about our Colomba from Fiasconaro, the famous Sicilian bakers. Colomba is the traditional Italian Easter bread in the shape of a dove. We also have chocolate Easter eggs and two types of boxed candies from Perugina to make everyone happy on Easter Sunday. Buona Pascua to you and yours.

Italfoods will be there for you when you change your seasonal menu and when your customers start demanding a change of culinary pace. So hang in there, just a few more weeks of scarves and sweaters and then we’ll all be rejoicing in the rebirth of Spring.
